With a fair wind from the NorthWest we left Groningen.
The wind turned, the waves became higher and higher and a lot of water came on board!
Finally the entrance of the Stavanger fjord!
Back

The harbour of Stavanger is in the city centre. In summertime there probably would not be a place for us but now, there was plenty of space!

Originally the houses were made out of wood. In the old centre about 200 wooden houses are still in good shape.

Most of the houses were destroyed by fires and on every corner of the street is a fire alarm.

The Catherdal was built in the 13-st century.
At the Lysefjord you can find this hughe cliff, called Preikestolen
It took us about 2 hours to reach the top plateau.
In our opinion it was quit dangerous to walk along the unprotected side of the cliff. |
We planned to sail below the cliff but thanks because Uno and Geir (we met in a pub) took us with their car, we could walk the Preikestolen.
The top! Time for a break.

It really felt scary to be (unprotected) this close to the edge of the
cliff.

The next day we sailed the ford. |
Sometimes the cliffs were hidden behind the clouds. |

And then, suddenly the fjord ends. There was a jetty at the end otherwise we could not get ashore. Ancoring isn't possible (the depth here is 200
meters!).
On our way back we couldn.t see much. We had to use the radar to sail out of the fjord.
The entrance Egersund on our way back home.
Back

There was a beautiful rainbow as we left Egersund . Sailors always are a bit superstitious and for us this was a good sign for our journey back.

A little wind is no problem for us. We just reduce the amount of square meters of our sails.
And if necessary even a bit more.
And then hurry back inside. A red sky by night is a sailors delight but a red sky in the morning is a sailors warning!
And yes, the wind turned into storm.

We were glad to reach Borkum and wondered why this fisherman went out at sea with this bad weather. As if it would be possible to fish...
Safely in the harbour of Borkum!

The last part of our trip, the Eems. Almost back home again!
